Making a difference

11th March 2022

On Monday, we came into our classroom to see a terrible sight! Our book corner was cordoned off and inside was a broken chair, spilt porridge and a messy bed …... We decided the culprit must have been Goldilocks! We have been retelling the story, making story maps, having lots of messy and sensory play with oats as well as enjoying some delicious porridge! Perhaps you can retell the story to your family – you are all expert story tellers now!

In maths we have been exploring numicon. We have been counting, adding, ordering and subitising numicon plates.

Phonics

This week, we have been porridge mad! Pouring porridge, writing in porridge and eating porridge! This weekend, I wonder if you could use your sounds to write a breakfast menu for your family? Take their order and write it down. Your teachers would love to see any writing you do at home.

Reminders:

  • Guided reading books are to be retruned every Monday. Your child will receive a new book on a Wednesday.
  • Next week is British Science Week. All children can wear a white shirt as their ‘lab coat’ for the week to get them into the science spirit!
  • During science week, we will be designing and making a ‘world for the future’. Any junk/recycling would be much appreciated (no boxes that may have traces of nuts).
  • We have noticed lots of children are bringing in toys from home. Please do not allow your child to bring any toys to school. They could get lost or damaged and we cannot be held responsible.

Many Thanks

The Reception Team
