Our story of the week has been ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ by Julia Donaldson. We have been busy designing and making a new house for the old lady. We mapped out our design using masking tape and used our sounds to label parts of the house. We have also been thinking about and designing our own dream house fit with swimming pools, cinema rooms and trampolines!
The old lady thought her house was too small, but by the end of the story, she realised her house was perfect and big enough for her. We have been learning synonyms for the words big and small. We thought of words like “teeny, tiny, weeny, titchy, mini, minuscule” and “large, giant, enormous, massive, colossal, ginormous.” We used big voices and small voices to say our synonyms. We also did some teeny weeny writing and some massive writing!
In maths, we have been sharing. We shared biscuits, treasures and various objects between different amounts of people. We ensured that each time we shared the resources, everyone got the same amount. We have been using words like ‘share, fair, equal’. We also took part in some delicious learning….we made, cooked and shared pizzas!
