This week a theatre company come to school to perform Handa’s Surprise for us! We tasted some exotic fruit from the story and wrote about how they looked felt, smelt and tasted. In the story, the animals are very cheeky and steal all the fruit from Handa’s basket! We ordered the story according to which animal stole each fruit and when. We are also had a go at writing some surprising riddles and wrote a shopping list for Handa.
In maths we have been learning about subtraction and counting back. We took part in some delicious learning using tangerines. We had 5 segments of tangerines, ate 1 and counted to see how many we had left. We then had a go at writing the number sentence to show our working out. We know that we have to count backwards when we subtract and we know that the numbers are always getting smaller.
All sounds learnt:
s a t p i n m d g o c ck e u r h b f ff l ll ss j v w x y z zz qu ch sh th ng ai ee igh oa oo ar or ur ow oi ear er air ure
Tricky words learnt:

Perhaps this weekend you could help write the shopping list! Maybe you would like to buy some fruit from our story this week? Use your sounds to help your grown up write a shopping list.
