Making a difference

25th November 2021

A short but exciting week this week! We have been reading ‘The Smeds and The Smoos’. The Smeds are red and The Smoos are blue! They absolutely do not ever mix!!! One day a Smed falls in love with a Smoo and together they create a Smed-Smoo! The Smeds and the Smoos favourite food is the Jellyful Fruit from the Jellyberry Coot! We have made our own jelly and written some instructions about how we made it. We had a delicious Smoo Smed picnic and have been busy writing menus.

In maths we have been using the language ‘more than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal’. We have been finding more, less and equal to any given amount of objects or numbers. Help me embed my knowledge by using this language at home e.g. “can you give me more raisins please”. “Look at these 2 cups, which has more water and which has less?” “Can you make sure you and your brother have equal amounts of raisins.”

In phonics, we have been revisiting and reviewing all sounds we have learnt so far as well as writing simple sentences using tricky words.

We have been focusing on rhyme this week in Literacy and phonics. We have been making up silly words that rhyme with our names, creating rhyming strings, writing cvc rhyming words (e.g. ten, hen, pen) as well as singing lots of nursery rhymes. We have also been spotting rhyming words in books. If you read any stories this weekend, can you listen out for any rhyming words you can hear?

Have a lovely (long) weekend and thank you for your support.
