Making a difference

28th May

Remember to talk to me about all of the wonderful learning I have taken part in. Check out our pictures from this week to spark a conversation!

This week we have been reading a book called ‘A New Green Day’. Each page of the book gave us clues as to what was on the next page; silvery, glistening ink led us to a snail and a rumble in the stomach of the storm gave us thunder! We have been thinking about the journey of a snail and drawing our own snail trail maps. We have been making some beautiful transient art using leaves, cloud gazing and using musical instruments to create a storm!

New tricky words learnt this week:

have     like     some    come

Can you read them? Orally put them into a sentence. Can you write your sentence?

In maths, we have been sharing objects out equally between different amounts of people and toys. We took part in some delicious learning and made pizzas! We shared the pizzas equally between our friends.

During half term you could:

  • Share stories; retell stories, act them out, look for tricky words in the text, make your own book.
  • Go for long walks; what can you hear? What can you see? What can you smell? Perhaps you could make a nature bracelet just like we did at Gladstone park!
  • Do some baking; count how many ingredients you need, weigh out the ingredients, knead the dough.

After half term, we are going to be re-starting our very exciting tooth brushing initiative! All children will brush their teeth in school after they have eaten their lunch. The children will be provided with a toothbrush in school, all we need from you is your consent! A consent form has been sent home with your child,

please bring the signed consent form back so we can launch our tooth brushing as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity for children to learn about oral hygiene and it also supports their listening and attention during a focused group activity.

Have a lovely and restful half term! We can’t wait to welcome you back in a week for your final half term in Reception!

Many thanks,

The Reception Team
