A spaceship crash landed in our classroom! We were very intrigued. What was it doing here? Where did it come from?
Inside was an alien and a note - It needed our help! Its spaceship was broken and it needed to get back to its home planet, Zoig! We got to work straight away! We thought of some great ideas to help Zob get back to space:
The police got in contact, they also needed our help. We became detectives and gathered evidence from the scene to be sent off to the forensic lab (alien goo).
We talked about how police often take fingerprints from the scene of a crime. We weren’t sure whether aliens had fingerprints, but we enjoyed inspecting our own! We rubbed our finger on a dark pencil mark and used cellotape to mark our fingerprints.
What do aliens look like? We decided they don’t look like us. We drew our own alien creatures, some had 3, eyes, 20 fingers and no toes!
In maths we have been learning about 2D shapes. We have learnt the names circle, square, rectangle, triangle and pentagon. We have also been counting their sides and corners. Perhaps this weekend you could go for a shape hunt around your house or in the park. What shapes do you notice?
We have been busy in phonics learning more sounds;
g o c k
We used these sounds to make some words:
got gap on cat can kit cot
Have a go at reading and writing these words.
We have also been learning some tricky words. Tricky words are words we cannot sound out:
I no go into
Can you read them and then put each word into a sentence?
