Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)

Expressive arts and design is one of the seven areas of the Early Years and Foundation Stage and is used to develop a child's imagination, creativity and their ability to use media and materials. Children do this in range of ways including singing songs and making music, dancing, playing with colours, textures and design.

Every area of learning is important in Early Years and music is no different. Not only is it engaging and a lot of fun it is also vital to build skills for things like phonics, listening and communication, as well as pattern making counting. We might get noisy but what a fantastic way to keep our brains growing and out fingers tapping. See if you can get your families to join the band too!

We really miss hearing the sweet sounds of learning in our classroom and understand it is not quite the same at home but you don’t need a music room or bag of instruments to keep that creativity growing. Here are some ideas, links and resources to help you find your own rhythm at home.
