  • DT Day - Cooking!

    Fri 09 Jul 2021

During our second DT day this year, pupils prepared fresh and healthy meals using ingredients from our garden. Children not only applied their DT knowledge but also science (healthy eating), maths (measures), writing (recipe) and their knowledge of other subjects. The meals ranged from a smoothie (mmm delicious) to a pizza (yum)! Everybody had a lot of fun and had pleasure eating not only what the children cooked but also harvested themselves.

The children can't wait to try these recipes at home!

  • Open Air Exhibition - celebrating our lockdown learning

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

On Wednesday 7th of July 2021, the first Mora’s Annual Art exhibition was launched with great success. Safety precautions were taken: open doors for ventilation, small groups of visitors from the same year group, sanitizers, masks and contract tracing. The best works of Mora’s pupils were on display, and a year 1 choir and a live band were complementing the cultural experience. Our amazing art teacher, Ms Caitlin Parks discussed the works with visitors and gave advice to young artists who would like to have their works on display next year. Having left the exhibition, the visitors could purchase snacks provided by Friends of Mora. Besides pupils and parents, the exhibition was visited by the governors, including the Chair of Governors Mr Barry Creasy, who is famous among year 1 pupils for his marmalade recipe.

We all look forward to next year's exhibition!

  • Maths Week London - Update

    Mon 05 Jul 2021

    Maths Week London 2021

What a phenomenal week we had! All of the children had a story book on which all of their Maths lessons were based. We saw Early Years counting legs of animals, Year 1 playing tug-of-war, Year 2 flipping through calendars, Year 3 measuring out a life-size gorilla, Year 4 attending a fraction art gallery, Year 5 learning how to make a million pounds and Year 6 making a scaled model of the solar system. At lunchtimes, the hundred square challenge had children working on their mental maths. Times Tables Rock Stars and Sumdog saw a flurry of correct answers as part of the London-wide tournament. At Mora we love Maths, and this was our chance to celebrate it… and celebrate we did!

Congratulations to our tournament winners and all of the children who participated in the First Maths Challenge.

  • Sports Day 2021

    Fri 02 Jul 2021

Thursday the 1st and Friday the 2nd of July were the annual Sports Days for our children at Mora.  This year (due to restrictions), everyone competed in six events each within the school grounds, earning points for their houses.  As a school, this year's winners were...Palm House!  Congratulations to all Palm House members!

New for this year, three children won awards in each class: The Best Competitor, The Best Team Player and The Most Improved.  It was fantastic to see everyone applying the skills they have been developing with Coach Ernest during their PE lessons, as well as the usual friendly competitiveness that we all have during competitions.  Thank you to all the wonderful children and staff for making each day such fun and enjoyable - you are all winners!
