Check out our new area, Science at Home!

You can find this in the Kids' Zone under the Children tab or click here. Here you will find monthly experiments to try at home. This month, a cheeky elf is up to his old scientific self with 4 challenges for the children.

Before you head there, check out this science joke...

What is worse than finding a worm in your apple?

  • Hanukkah Celebrations

    Thu 09 Dec 2021 Ms O'Sullivan

This year, Hanukkah was celebrated from Sunday 28th November -  Monday 6th December. The children at Mora learned all about Hanukkah through an assembly kindly hosted by some of our Jewish parents. Children ate some delicious Jewish doughnuts for their dessert and played with dreidels. We also had a Menorah colouring competition -  thank you to everyone who took part. The winners in Phase 1 were Jason in Mercury class, Rosie in Neptune class and Noah in Earth class. In Phase 2, the winners were Nikky in Jupiter and Nadia and Sarah in Titan. Well done!

  • The Triumphant Winter Concert

    Tue 07 Dec 2021 Ms Tejan-Cole

    Winter concert – 2nd December 2021

    Hello Families,

There is a song for this time of year that has the line, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” It is indeed as we had a fantastic time at our winter concert performing some of the songs, dances and instruments we have learnt in music sessions with Miss Batten.

It may have been cold but children and staff sang, danced, played instruments with great warmth.

Congratulations to Mora Voices Phase 1 and 2; they sang for the first time as great ambassadors to the school. We are looking forward to Spring term where there will be more performances from Mora Voices and, of course, our fabulous classes.

  • Black History Month Competition Prize Trip

Fri 03 Dec 2021 Ms Gkinidou

This October, at Mora Primary School and across the UK, we celebrated Black History Month and the important contributions black people have made and continue to make to our society.

More than 70 children took part in a competition whose theme was 'Black and British'. Children did their research and created amazing posters on various Black Britons and how they influenced the world. A winner was chosen from each class and the grand prize was a trip to the Museum of London Docklands. On Wednesday 1st December, 13 children set off on a long and exciting journey to Canary Wharf. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw all those  shiny skyscrapers. When we visited the museum, we learned all about the sugar trade, the abolition of slavery and the expansion of the London docks. We also had the opportunity to visit the winding streets of Sailortown  - a replica of what the area close to the docks looked like during the 1840s. We had such a great time! What an unforgettable day!
